Join Airbnb's Analytics Infrastructure team as a Senior Software Engineer focused on building data tools and analytics products. The Analytics Infrastructure team enables data-informed decision-making across Airbnb by providing integrated analytics frameworks, services, and applications.
You will work on the Analytics Products team (part of Analytics Infrastructure) as a backend/fullstack engineer building data tools that enable data practitioners to efficiently explore, analyze, and create insights. The team manages data products used by 7,000+ monthly active users, including Airbnb's proprietary AI for Data product, BI product (Apache Superset), Notebooks, and integrations with Airbnb's data platform tooling like the Metric system for metric consistency at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Shape the future of AI-powered data analytics at Airbnb by improving the AI agent for Data, researching industry best practices and AI advancements
- Build new features supporting user workflows within data products (Superset, AI agent for Data, Notebooks)
- Collaborate with other data platform teams to build integrations of data tools with Airbnb's data platform ecosystem, including metric infrastructure, data management platform, data warehouse infrastructure, and services
- Drive cross-functional projects end-to-end, including alignment, collaboration, and rollout with partner teams and users
- Maintain high quality and reliability standards for data tools used by Airbnb's data practitioners
- Engage directly with users to gather feedback and collaborate with product managers on feature rollouts and migrations
- Contribute to technical quality by identifying architecture improvements, improving testability and observability, and reviewing code and technical designs
- Participate in lightweight on-call support for team operations
Requirements:
- 8+ years of full-time, relevant industry experience with expertise in building backend or fullstack applications
- Hands-on experience with data (SQL, Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering) or internal data applications development
- Passion for building interactive and delightful user experiences and engaging with users
- Ability to drive cross-functional projects including alignment, collaboration, and rollout with partner teams and users
- Appetite for high-quality code and robust systems, including observability and reliability
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with building AI agents, context engineering, AI harness
- Expertise with frontend development (HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, modern frameworks like React)
- Experience with big data technologies (Airflow, Spark, Trino, etc.)
