SEON is a fraud prevention and AML compliance platform serving thousands of companies globally, including Revolut, Wise, and Bilt. The platform uses 900+ real-time data signals to enrich customer profiles, flag suspicious behavior, and streamline compliance workflows.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the AML team, you will own the design and delivery of TypeScript applications and services powering SEON's AML products. You'll partner closely with product managers to translate customer needs and feature requests into well-scoped, high-quality deliverables. This role sits one level above Software Engineer: while that level focuses on scoping and delivering individual work well, you will shape team-level design and delivery, mentor peers, and raise the bar through code, reviews, and guidance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build end-to-end TypeScript features for AML services (case management, business backends, person service) and the customer-facing Admin Panel, with performance, scalability, security, and observability as core design principles
- Lead team-level design reviews and author design docs/ADRs for significant changes
- Challenge requirements that don't align and surface delivery risks early with mitigation proposals
- Deliver high-quality, simple, secure, testable, performant, and scalable code that sets the example for others
- Maintain and develop client-side JavaScript libraries, Node.js backends, and Nest.js/Express services
- Participate in on-call rotation, debug complex cross-system issues, and drive blameless root cause analysis
- Proactively improve monitoring, alerting, and runbooks for owned services
- Own the testing strategy for your services, setting quality gates and maintaining code maintainability
- Prioritize and fix issues from QA and customers, bringing customer voice into planning
- Review team code with technical depth, providing constructive feedback that fosters growth
- Collaborate continuously with PM, QA, Architects, and DevOps; communicate with senior stakeholders to frame decisions and share context
- Lead planning and estimation, break down large projects into incremental work streams, and step into tech/project lead roles on significant initiatives
- Drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and team processes; use retrospective data and delivery metrics to measure results
- Work with large datasets (screening, watchlist data) ensuring performance, accuracy, and auditability
- Use AI-assisted development tools daily and identify opportunities for AI to improve products and development practices
- Mentor engineers across the team and create reusable team standards (templates, prompts, playbooks)
Requirements:
- At least 6 years of software development experience, including owning the design and delivery of production services
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript; solid knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and RESTful API development
- Experience designing for non-functional requirements and leading technical design discussions
- Experience operating what you build: monitoring, on-call, incident response, and root cause analysis
- Track record of mentoring and leading projects/work streams without a management title
- Ability to think outside the box and adapt to fast-paced environments
- Fluency in English
- Technical stack: JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node, NestJS, HTML5, CSS3 (Sass), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, AWS, Terraform
