Salary: USD 180,000 - 210,000 / annual
Standard Bots is building automation systems that lower the barrier to entry for real-world robotics. The company empowers individuals and developers to solve automation challenges without requiring deep robotics expertise.
You will join the AI team as a seasoned software engineer responsible for building the systems that power the company's AI models. The AI team is small with wide surface area and real ownership. You'll work across the full stack: data ingestion pipelines, training and evaluation infrastructure, perception integration, and customer-facing product surfaces. In a given month, you might move between adding data pipeline functionality, fixing a camera calibration issue, and shipping a customer-facing feature—and you'll have agency in prioritizing what matters most.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify, scope, and drive high-impact technical and user-facing projects across the AI team's stack
- Ship product surfaces that expose AI capabilities to users through applications and APIs
- Mentor and advise other engineers on technical and personal advancement
- Drive technical decision-making through hands-on, technically deep work
- Own one or more areas depending on your expertise: data pipelines (ingestion, labeling, curation, quality metrics), training and evaluation infrastructure (training pipelines, experiment tracking, GPU orchestration, model versioning, deployment), or perception integration (camera calibration, vision pipelines, robot runtime integration)
The tech stack includes React and TypeScript for front-end, Node.js, Python, and C++ for back-end, PyTorch for ML, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitHub Actions. The role is approximately 70% back-end and 30% front-end with flexibility based on project needs.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite at the NYC office near Grand Central Station, which is fully equipped with robots for demos and testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-10 years of experience working in complex technical environments
- Strong technical background with demonstrated ability to ship production systems
- AI-adjacent depth (strongly preferred): professional experience in at least one of MLOps, data pipelines, or computer vision (e.g., building training/inference infrastructure, running large-scale data ingestion and curation, or shipping vision pipelines to production). No requirement to have trained models yourself.
