BigPanda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI Platform team, which is building the foundation for generative AI products in IT Operations. The team is responsible for unified data connectors, secure enterprise data ingestion and indexing, unified identity and access management, and agentic infrastructure powering AI-driven incident response, prevention, automation, knowledge retrieval, and operational intelligence. In this role, you will design, build, and ship platform capabilities that power AI across BigPanda's products. You will own meaningful features end-to-end: understanding customer problems, shaping solutions, making technical decisions, building systems, validating them hands-on, launching, and iterating quickly. The work spans data ingestion and synchronization, enterprise integrations (ServiceNow, Snowflake), LLMs, agents, RAG, knowledge graphs, vector databases, workflow orchestration, web applications, APIs, authentication/RBAC, and operational data pipelines. Key responsibilities include building production-grade backend services, APIs, data ingestion pipelines, and enterprise integrations; architecting AI-native capabilities using LLMs, prompting, tool calling, agent orchestration, RAG, and vector search; leveraging AI coding platforms (Cursor, Claude Code) as core development tools; writing high-quality prompts for development, debugging, and customer-facing AI experiences; proposing and owning features from concept through delivery; working directly with customers, GTM, product, and engineering teams; making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, quality, reliability, cost, latency, and scalability; moving fast in ambiguous spaces without excessive process; responding rapidly to bugs and customer issues; and helping raise the team's bar for velocity, ownership, and customer-focused execution. The team operates in an early-stage platform environment inside an established enterprise company, moving quickly, working directly with customers, and prioritizing shipping differentiated customer value. Engineers are expected to operate with extreme ownership, high urgency, and a strong bias for action. Every team member meets with customers, develops ideas, and shares ownership of the strategic roadmap. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong software engineering fundamentals across backend, full-stack, distributed systems, data pipelines, APIs, or product engineering - Hands-on experience building AI-enabled product capabilities with LLMs, RAG, vector databases, embeddings, agents, workflow automation, knowledge systems, or related technologies - High agency: learn quickly, make forward progress independently, develop ideas to improve customer outcomes and team operations - Extreme ownership: care about outcomes, customer impact, reliability, and follow-through - High velocity: motivated to ship, learn, and iterate quickly while maintaining sound engineering judgment - Customer curiosity: want direct exposure to users and comfortable using feedback to shape priorities - Product judgment: distinguish between technical interest and meaningful customer value - Strong practical prompting skills including prompt iteration, context design, tool-use instructions, structured outputs, and failure-mode analysis - High proficiency with modern AI development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar); should already be using AI to materially improve engineering output - Ability to architect and build agent systems that reason, retrieve context, call tools, execute actions, handle errors, and operate safely in enterprise environments - Healthy conflict: challenge weak ideas directly while remaining considerate, collaborative, and low-ego - Comfort with uncertainty, changing priorities, incomplete requirements, and fast iteration cycles - Excitement about applying AI to real enterprise IT Operations problems Desirable experience includes agentic coding (Cursor, Claude Code), data ingestion/indexing/synchronization, ServiceNow/Snowflake/ITSM integrations, RAG pipelines and vector databases, knowledge graphs and agent memory, authentication/authorization/RBAC, TypeScript/Node.js backend services, AWS services (S3, SQS, Lambda), React/Next.js applications, agent workflow engines, prompt engineering, and ITOps domain expertise. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Remote role open to candidates in USA across Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones.
