The Account Infrastructure team sits within the Safety organization and is responsible for authenticating and authorizing the Roblox user base—a foundational capability that underpins every other platform feature. The team focuses on ensuring users have confidence their accounts are secure, providing auth/security controls tailored to individual needs, and scaling these systems to support 1 billion active users.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Account Auth Infra Team, you will own the complete lifecycle of full-stack features: technical specification, implementation, rollout, monitoring, and iteration. You will work at the intersection of adversarial problem-solving and high-scalability engineering, collaborating closely with Application Security, Roblox Core Services, and the broader Safety organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assume full ownership of feature development from design through production and iteration, aligned with pod roadmap
- Define architectural direction for scaling account authentication and security systems
- Contribute to and maintain user authentication and security infrastructure
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to ensure adoption and success of core safety applications
- Mentor peers and lead technical excellence across team boundaries
- Work with distributed systems handling thousands of requests per second
The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager of Account Authentication.
Roblox works in Rust, Go, and C#, and is incorporating AI throughout development workflows. The team values full-stack capability, safety-driven design, data-driven decision-making, and collaborative technical leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of software development experience
- 4+ years as a full-stack engineer with extensive back-end development on complex, production-grade systems
- Proven ability to design and implement robust, high-throughput microservices (thousands of requests per second) with focus on safety and security
- Experience with front-end technologies (React, Vue, Angular) and back-end languages (Python, Java, Go)
- Strong commitment to designing systems that prioritize user safety, data integrity, and compliance
- BS in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent technical field (or equivalent experience)
- Analytical and data-driven mindset; ability to instrument, collect, and analyze user interaction data (A/B testing, usage metrics)
- Proficiency in Rust, Go, and/or C#
- Eagerness to define and build AI-centric solutions with modern ML and agentic AI capabilities
- Collaborative team-player who actively mentors peers and takes ownership of cross-boundary projects
