As a Senior Software Engineer 2, you will own complex projects end-to-end within one of our engineering squads, building and maintaining core parts of our data and application platform. You'll make well-reasoned design tradeoffs, partner closely with Product and Design, and write design docs that communicate technical decisions to the team. You'll be a force multiplier for junior engineers through mentoring, pairing, code review, and design review.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own complex projects end-to-end from technical design through launch with minimal oversight
- Build high-quality, scalable, and flexible platform architecture to handle diverse customer and internal data
- Ensure users receive timely and accurate information that supports their work
- Write design docs and developer documentation that evolve architecture for operational efficiency and business growth
- Take initiative to identify and fix issues before assignment; ship well-baked, bug-free products
- Provide effective feedback through code and design reviews
- Mentor junior teammates and set consistent standards through your technical contributions
- Contribute to engineering culture and production code quality
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture (ingestion, consumption, export)
- Work with leaders to identify system bottlenecks and improve SLOs, data quality, and reduce manual work
The team is tight-knit with high ownership, and your work will directly improve patient access to healthcare. Focus areas include ingesting and transforming data for provider trust, evolving frontend UX, and building seamless experiences for healthcare providers.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional engineering experience with recent hands-on production-level backend code (Python preferred; Java, C++, or Go acceptable) and frontend technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript with React, Angular, or Vue)
- Track record of driving complex medium-to-large projects end-to-end from technical design through launch
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure acceptable)
- Expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Experience writing technical design docs and communicating decisions to teammates
- Track record of mentoring junior engineers via code review, pairing, and design review
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable partnering with PM and Design across time zones and diverse backgrounds
- Experience using AI to assist and accelerate code writing
- Plus: Data platform experience with Snowflake or Databricks, and DBT for data transformations
