Material Security is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of infrastructure across the organization. You'll work with GCP, Kubernetes, and Postgres across hundreds of GCP projects, building systems and culture that eliminate manual on-call work, address root causes of alerts, and provide engineers with clear visibility into system health. In this software engineering role, you'll design and build automation that removes toil from on-call operations, lead infrastructure projects end-to-end, and identify where cost-driven limits create latency or reliability problems. You'll develop tooling that displays system health across GCP projects at a glance, define SLOs with product teams, and raise reliability engineering standards across the engineering organization. You'll also pioneer reliability engineering practices for agent-first production systems, working cross-functionally with every team and leadership to shape infrastructure strategy. Material Security is a remote-first company with an office in San Francisco, California. REQUIREMENTS: - Solid software engineering fundamentals and strong coding ability; production code should be your default problem-solving approach - Hands-on experience running GCP (or comparable cloud platform) and Kubernetes at production scale, including autoscaling and capacity management - Proven track record building tools and automation that other engineers depend on, not just runbooks describing manual fixes - Comfort driving ambiguous, cross-team reliability work independently, from diagnosis through shipped solutions
