Hinge Health is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of its digital health platform serving musculoskeletal care. You will work across engineering, product, and operations teams to design, build, and maintain robust infrastructure and automation solutions that support the company's mission to deliver outstanding member experiences and improved health outcomes. In this role, you will own and lead projects in your domain, turning ambiguous goals into sequenced plans and setting new projects up for success in production with proper SLOs, observability, safe rollout procedures, and on-call readiness. You'll design and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure in cloud environments, build self-service tooling and standardized workflows for deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management, and lead incident response with post-incident reviews and root-cause analyses to reduce MTTD/MTTR and prevent repeat incidents. Key responsibilities include defining SLOs for systems you own and using them to prioritize stability work; collaborating with engineering and product teams on CI/CD, observability, and safe launches; troubleshooting and resolving system performance and reliability issues; and driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code and config management practices. You will establish and enforce infrastructure patterns and standards for your domain, author design documents, and influence architectural decisions with a focus on operational excellence. You'll maintain a high quality bar through testing, review, and low change-failure rates, and create reusable templates and reference code that speed up the team. Additional responsibilities include leading capacity planning and disaster recovery efforts, tracking and improving key reliability and performance metrics, evaluating and implementing tools that improve reliability and developer productivity (including AI-assisted tooling used safely), mentoring junior and mid-level engineers through pairing and code review, enforcing security best practices and compliance in design and code review, and participating in the team's weekly on-call rotation. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to shape the roadmap, explain technical tradeoffs, and meet business and regulatory goals. Hinge Health operates a hybrid model requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office. The company is a leader in digital musculoskeletal care, serving over 20 million people across 60+ health plans, PBMs, and ecosystem partners, with additional offices in Montreal and Bangalore. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related roles, including production on-call - Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, or equivalent depth on another major cloud) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) - Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform) - Familiarity with logging and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, New Relic) - Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design, usage, and implementation (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins) - Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced technology or healthcare environment - Practical judgment on where AI tools help and where they don't - Experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident response best practices, including defining SLOs - Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional team experience - Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery - Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects - Deep knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2)
