Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Air Defense team builds autonomous robots and networked sensor systems designed to detect and neutralize airborne threats. This role is critical to the kill chain—every engagement starts with multiple networked sensor modalities identifying threats before visual detection.
As a Senior Sensor Engineer, you will own sensor hardware integrations end-to-end, from requirements through architecture, block diagram, and simulation. You will evaluate performance across multiple sensing modalities including RF/radar front ends, electro-optical/infrared assemblies, acoustic arrays, and emerging sensor families. Your responsibilities include driving verification and validation strategies for perception systems, determining which sensors fit which missions, and integrating sensor hardware with effector, autonomy, and Lattice OS teams to close the engagement loop.
You will represent Anduril externally as a technical authority on airborne sensing, engaging with standards bodies, sensor vendors, development partners, and customers. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you exercise high ownership over complex systems across design, integration, test, and production phases.
The Air Defense family of systems includes products such as Roadrunner, Sentry, Anvil, Pulsar, and Wisp—all integrated into a software-enabled platform tailored to the modern battlespace. You will work at the nexus of premier Anduril-built products, contributing to critical force protection capabilities for warfighters.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Demonstrated depth in multi-modal sensor architecture and sensor selection with working command of detection physics
- Ability to exercise high ownership over complex systems across design, integration, test, and production
- Demonstrated experience specifying and verifying sensing performance quantitatively, including detection and false alarm characterization, range performance analysis, and validation of models against measured data
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with environmental qualification of military systems (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461)
- Experience with networks of distributed sensors
- Experience modeling systems of sensors using AFSIM
- Knowledge of common communication busses (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-422/485, Ethernet, PCIe)
- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
