Treeswift builds physical AI systems for field workers in the energy sector, combining hardware, sensors (LiDAR, cameras), and software to increase worker productivity by 10x. The company works with three of the five largest US utilities, helping them reduce wildfire risk, manage vegetation-related outages, and accelerate storm recovery. The team includes robotics experts from Penn, Caltech, and CMU, plus enterprise software engineers from Palantir, Stripe, and MongoDB. As a Senior Robotics Engineer focused on Perception, you will drive outcomes across perception, mapping, sensor fusion, and calibration that directly contribute to business expansion. Your initial priorities include: - Improving product quality and consistency across diverse operating conditions by leading SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) development, incorporating new sensor innovations, and exploring approaches to enhance performance in GPS-degraded environments. - Accelerating time-to-delivery by advancing sensor fusion and calibration capabilities, including fusing multi-user, multi-session point cloud maps and automating alignment of LiDAR and imagery data to produce consistent large-scale scenes. - Enhancing power scalability and reliability by eliminating the need for extrinsic field measurements on vehicle sensors and improving data quality issue detection at the source. You will work in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment where you are expected to develop strong opinions, collaborate effectively, and take initiative on improvements. The role is based in San Francisco with additional offices in Manhattan and Philadelphia. REQUIREMENTS: - 5–10 years of experience in perception for robotics - Proficiency in C++ and Python - Extensive experience developing SLAM solutions, ideally involving ground-based LiDAR - Experience with extrinsic and intrinsic sensor calibration, including automated data-driven calibration - Comfort in fast-paced, high-ownership environments with ability to collaborate and form independent opinions - Nice-to-have: prior experience with ultra-wide angle cameras
