Tabby is the GCC's leading shopping and payments platform, operating across Saudi Arabia and the UAE with 65,000+ sellers including global brands like Apple, IKEA, Adidas, and Shein. The company is now launching a local presence in Kuwait and seeking a hands-on Senior Risk Manager to establish risk capabilities from the ground up.
In this role, you will be one of the first local hires, responsible for building Tabby's risk management framework for Kuwait covering both enterprise and credit risk. You will establish governance structures, policies, risk appetite statements, and reporting requirements aligned with Group standards and local regulatory expectations. Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining the local risk management framework for Kuwait, covering enterprise and credit risk while aligning with Group standards and regulatory requirements
- Developing local risk strategy, risk appetite statements, policies, limits, governance forums and management reporting for launch and ongoing operations
- Owning the enterprise risk process including risk identification, assessment, risk registers, key risk indicators, emerging-risk reviews, and remediation tracking
- Providing independent risk challenges on new products, partnerships, customer journeys, and material business initiatives
- Leading local credit risk oversight across the customer lifecycle, including underwriting rules, credit limits, affordability assessments, collections outcomes, and portfolio quality
- Partnering with Group Risk and Product teams to calibrate credit strategies for Kuwait and assess model, policy, and limit changes
- Establishing early-warning indicators, thresholds, and reporting to support data-informed risk decisions
- Preparing risk assessments, reporting, and recommendations for local leadership, risk committees, the Board, and regulators
- Supporting licensing activities, regulatory submissions, examinations, and information requests in partnership with Compliance and Legal
- Coordinating risk input into business continuity, outsourcing, third-party risk, operational incidents, and control assessments
- Promoting a practical risk culture and ensuring material risks and control gaps are escalated appropriately
- Helping shape the future Kuwait risk organization and supporting hiring as the business scales
You will work closely with Kuwait leadership and Group Risk, as well as Product, Compliance, Finance, Operations, and Internal Audit teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong risk management experience within banking, fintech, consumer lending, payments, or another regulated financial-services environment
- Meaningful hands-on experience across both enterprise risk and credit risk (not limited to governance or oversight)
- Demonstrated experience building or materially improving risk frameworks, policies, risk appetite statements, governance structures, reporting, and control processes
- Understanding of consumer credit risk across underwriting, credit policy, portfolio monitoring, collections performance, and loss drivers
- Understanding of enterprise risk disciplines including risk and control assessments, KRIs, incident and issue management, operational resilience, third-party risk, and emerging risks
- Understanding of the Kuwait regulatory environment; experience engaging with the Central Bank of Kuwait or another GCC financial-services regulator preferred
- Ability to operate independently in a new-market environment and build essentials before a wider team is in place
- Ability to balance strong governance with practical, proportionate execution and constructively challenge senior stakeholders
- Strong communication skills for complex risk topics; ability to prepare decision-ready materials for leadership, governance forums, and regulators
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Legal, and Internal Audit
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Business, Mathematics, or related field; FRM, PRM, CFA, or comparable qualification is an advantage
- Professional fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage
