Form Energy is hiring a Senior Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability and lifetime of iron-air battery packs and deployed systems. You will join the Systems Reliability team in Berkeley, CA, and lead reliability test development and design-for-reliability (DfR) efforts for pack-level subsystems supporting the company's battery manufacturing operations.
In this role, you will act as the primary technical authority on Design for Reliability for critical electro-mechanical plant subsystems, mentoring peers and guiding cross-functional design failure analyses (DFMEAs). You will translate high-level product goals into rigorous reliability requirements and define the validation roadmap for component and sub-system lifetimes. A key responsibility is designing and leading complex experiments to uncover failure mechanisms, determine root causes, and establish methods to accelerate failure rates in tests—with a focus on electronics control systems including PCBs, connectors, and bus bars. You will also champion safety across the team.
Form Energy is a climate technology company founded in 2017, headquartered in Somerville, MA, and recognized by TIME as a "Best Invention" and MIT Technology Review as a "Top Climate Tech Company To Watch." The company is revolutionizing energy storage with cost-effective, multi-day iron-air battery systems designed to keep the electric grid secure and reliable. Production is underway at a high-volume manufacturing facility in West Virginia, with contracts signed by leading US electric utilities.
Relocation assistance is available. The company offers competitive salaries, stock options, and comprehensive benefits including 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees (80% for dependents), at least 12 weeks of paid parental leave (up to 20 weeks for birthing parents), and generous vacation policies.

- 3–7 years of industry experience
- Demonstrated expertise in developing new tests to evaluate performance and/or reliability of electrical and electromechanical systems
- Experience with testing of PCBs and other electronic components
- Familiarity with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across a range of operating conditions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within peer groups and broader organization, including remote team members
