Salary: USD 140,000 - 240,000 / annual
CHAOS Industries is seeking a Senior Radar Software Engineer to join its R&D and product engineering team in El Segundo, California. The company, founded in 2022 and backed by $1B in funding from top-tier investors including 8VC, Accel, and NEA, is redefining modern defense with omniscient systems powered by Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN™). The company serves warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams with advanced sensing and detection solutions.
In this role, you will contribute to the research, development, and production of next-generation radar products. Responsibilities include R&D and production software development for radar systems, system integration of software on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, and support for deployed software capabilities serving U.S. and international customers. This is a highly collaborative position that offers exposure across multiple product capabilities and the opportunity to expand your skillset across the company's product families. You will work full-time on-site in the Los Angeles office.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in professional object-oriented software development, particularly with Python and Linux environments. You should have experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development, and be comfortable working with minimal supervision on small teams.
Preferred qualifications include development experience with ground or airborne sensors (radars, EO/IR, EW), radar modes and algorithms, signal processing, target detection, and tracking. Additional valuable experience includes current or previous DoD security clearance, networking (software and hardware), CUDA, Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), advanced time synchronization, embedded real-time software, containerization (Docker, Podman), cloud computing and virtualization, BIOS/Secure Boot/TPM, drive encryption, 2D/3D visualization for defense applications, DoD system architectures and messaging standards (OMS, SOSA, Link-16), modeling and simulation (DIS, VR-Forces, AFSIM), production-level DevOps/DevSecOps/CI-CD, and full lifecycle development of high-TRL systems. Experience with additional programming languages such as C++, Rust, NodeJS, Java, or Go is also valued.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience
- Extensive/advanced Python experience
- Experience with Agile lifecycle processes (Scrum, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams
- Solid understanding and extensive experience with Linux software development
- U.S. Person status required (position requires access to U.S.-only data systems)
