Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting growing demand for launch capacity. The company is developing advanced propulsion systems using 3D printing technology and fostering a culture of ownership and autonomy across all engineering disciplines.
The Propulsion team is focused on developing and delivering highly performant and manufacturable engines for Terran R. Engineers own the entire lifecycle of their parts, from initial design through production to qualification and flight. The team emphasizes bottoms-up decision-making and technical ownership without gatekeeping. As the flight configuration enters qualification, the team is exploring modifications for future engines, including thrust upgrades, new cycles, and design for mass production.
In this role, you will be responsible for thermal, structural, dynamic, and durability (fatigue/fracture) analyses on Aeon-R engines and subsystems to guide design decisions and ensure reliability and performance requirements are met. You will analyze 3D-printed engine components, complex mechanical assemblies, and the structural integrity of fully integrated engine assemblies. You will work hand-in-hand with mechanical designers and manufacturing engineers to arrive at optimal solutions for the engine and vehicle programs. Additionally, you will develop and execute tests to support development and qualification, including hands-on work like test article integration, instrumentation setup, and data processing.
This is an individual contributor role where you will have significant technical ownership and impact on a cutting-edge propulsion program. You'll be part of a team solving problems that haven't been solved before, with the opportunity to see your work come to life in record time.
