n8n is an open workflow orchestration platform built for the AI era, enabling technical teams to automate faster with the freedom of code and speed of no-code. The company has grown to 260+ employees across Europe and the US, with 650,000+ active developers in its community, 190K+ GitHub stars, and a $5.2bn valuation backed by Sequoia and SAP. You will own the licensing, entitlements, accounts, and billing platform that underpins n8n's commercial system. This is a foundational role: you build the system that pricing and packaging decisions run on, rather than running price experiments yourself. Core responsibilities: **Licensing & Billing Strategy & Roadmap**: Define and communicate product strategy and roadmap for Licensing & Billing in partnership with Engineering, Product leadership, Finance, and go-to-market teams. Prioritize foundational investments based on revenue integrity, enterprise needs, data correctness, and engineering effort. Lead discovery with enterprise customers, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and RevOps to understand how n8n is bought, renewed, and grown, and identify pain points. **Licensing, Entitlements & Accounts**: Own the license server and entitlement model across Cloud, self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments, with one source of truth for which plan or deal grants which features. Introduce "account" as a first-class product primitive (accounts, purchases, license keys, activations) and expose it as the API contract for customer-facing console and multi-instance management. Productize the deal-to-entitlement flow so closed deals in Salesforce create or update entitlements without manual steps. **Metering & Billing Platform**: Own usage metering and billing for Cloud and Enterprise, including subscription billing, quota consumption, and overage charging. Lead migration off Paddle Classic and unify Cloud and Enterprise billing into one platform. Build mechanics for usage-based enterprise billing and reliable overage charging. **Cross-Org Alignment**: Make architecture and mechanism decisions (entitlement model, billing platform, enterprise invoicing path) and align closely with Finance and go-to-market. Hold clear boundaries with adjacent teams (customer console, execution limits, access control). Establish clear success measures and keep the squad accountable for outcomes. **Requirements** Must-haves: - 6+ years in Product, with substantial experience owning a billing, licensing, entitlement, or quote-to-cash system at a B2B SaaS company - Proven track record driving cross-functional systems change where Finance, Sales Ops, and Engineering all had a say, and getting it live - Systems and data-model depth: ability to design or critique an entity model, reason about reconciliation and idempotency in a sync, read an API contract, and explain why two systems reading the same events end up with different numbers - Attention to detail and understanding that billing data errors cascade to everything built on it - Ability to make trade-offs explicit and connect foundational or data-quality work to commercial outcomes - Ownership and autonomy: grab problems without being asked, fix what you see broken, drive outcomes without waiting for direction - Exceptional communication skills across engineers, Finance team, and Sales; ability to make billing trade-offs legible to all stakeholders - Understanding of self-hosted, air-gapped, and OEM deployments and their implications for licensing and metering Nice-to-haves: - Experience with usage-based or hybrid (subscription plus usage) billing - Hands-on experience with vendor billing stacks (Paddle, Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora, or similar) and knowledge of where they break at enterprise contract volume - Billing-provider migration experience - Ability to read code, query data, or prototype - CRM integration experience, particularly with Salesforce - Domain familiarity with workflow automation, agent orchestration, or open-source/developer-community products - Writing culture: default to writing things down to create clarity and alignment
