Treefera is a first-mile intelligence platform delivering granular visibility into the point of origin in global agriculture and soft commodity supply chains. The company uses AI, satellite data, and quantitative modeling to help organizations understand and manage risk, cost, performance, and exposure across global supply chains and commodities. In this Senior Product Engineer role, you will build the systems behind Treefera's Environmental Intelligence — the data models, pipelines, and APIs that transform satellite and ground-truth signals into actionable evidence for customers. You'll work on a global, cross-functional team that values rigor, curiosity, and engagement with real-world challenges. Key responsibilities include: - Ship services end-to-end (data model, pipeline, API) from customer questions to working solutions - Turn emerging ideas into working prototypes quickly, enabling customer feedback in weeks rather than quarters - Own technical decisions within your scope, extending the existing platform and refactoring where it provides value - Carry work through maintenance, documentation, and operational follow-through to ensure reliability - Improve team capabilities through code review, mentoring, and practical tooling improvements - Demonstrate your work commercially and enable sales and support teams for adoption Success milestones: Within 30 days, ship something small to production and understand the platform's edges. By 60 days, own a piece of Environmental Intelligence end-to-end. By 90 days, it's released with customers querying it. By six months, your work influences documentation, tooling, and standards across the team. Within a year, environmental evidence reaches decision-makers faster through your contributions. You'll partner day-to-day with Product, Customer Solutions, and the Science/AI team, while collaborating with HQ teams and enterprise customers. Interview process: Recruiter screen (30–45 min) → Hiring manager & collaborative technical session (45–60 min) → Final cross-functional or executive conversation (30–45 min, if applicable). Requirements: - Demonstrated experience taking a production Python service or pipeline through significant architectural change (re-model, re-platform, or rewrite) - Design data models and APIs that others build on; experience living with schema decisions - Work from problems rather than tickets; pick approaches, make trade-off calls, and explain reasoning - Extend existing systems rather than defaulting to rewrites - Use AI in your workflow or be ready to adopt it; explain what you kept, threw away, and why Desirable qualifications: - Geospatial or Earth Observation data experience (GIS, remote sensing, Postgres/PostGIS) - Scientific Python (NumPy, GeoPandas, Xarray) or pipeline orchestration (Dagster) - Familiarity with Typescript, React, or NestJS (occasional, not daily use)
