Packmatic is a rapidly growing B2B SaaS platform for packaging management, helping companies reduce packaging costs and implement sustainability requirements like PPWR and EPR. The company connects businesses with a Europe-wide network of packaging suppliers through a data-driven digital platform.
You will join the founding team as a Senior Product Designer focused on Systems & AI, working directly with leadership in a hybrid role based in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg office. This is an early-stage position with significant creative freedom and ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion user-first perspectives in all decisions, making complex packaging and compliance workflows intuitive and measurable
- Lead user research and discovery through interviews, usability tests, and workshops to understand customer workflows and pain points
- Partner with Product and Engineering to shape workflows and interaction models, turning complex requirements into coherent end-to-end experiences
- Identify common interaction patterns across modules and define scalable UX patterns for tables, filters, bulk actions, status flows, and system states
- Evolve the UX side of the design system by maintaining interaction principles, components, and usage guidance
- Prototype with AI and code when useful, using Figma and AI coding tools to test ideas quickly; you can navigate frontend code and make UI changes but are not expected to work as a Frontend Engineer
- Collaborate closely with Engineers through implementation, understanding technical constraints and adapting solutions without losing user intent
- Use product data and customer feedback to improve both individual workflows and the underlying UX system
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Product Design, ideally in B2B SaaS environments with complex or data-heavy workflows
- Proven track record designing and shipping digital products end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping to live product, with strong examples of shipped work
- Deep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, systems thinking, and UX principles with ability to bring clarity to complex problems
- Systems mindset: naturally look for reusable patterns instead of solving each feature as a one-off problem
- Technical fluency: understand how modern component-based frontend applications are built, work comfortably with Engineers, and navigate HTML/CSS and React/TypeScript concepts (production frontend engineering not required)
- AI-first working style: actively use AI tools for research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and lightweight coding; interested in changing the product process, not just making existing tasks faster
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and domain experts
- Strong command of Figma and familiarity with modern collaboration, research, analytics, and AI prototyping tools
- Native-level German and fluent English for effective team collaboration
- Degree, vocational training, or bootcamp in a relevant field (practical experience prioritized)
