Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical geospatial data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. The company controls every component from hardware design and manufacturing to data processing and software engineering. You will join Planet's design team as a Senior Product Designer responsible for shaping the platform experience (insights.planet.com). In this role, you will define core user journeys across the platform, addressing the needs of diverse user types including admins, developers, and end users. With a relentless focus on user needs, you will define jobs-to-be-done and design end-to-end user flows across web frontends and agentic workflows. You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to decompose these workflows into scalable, reusable UX building blocks, ultimately crafting a cohesive, user-centric platform experience. This is a full-stack design role: you take problems from discovery with users all the way through to designing and building interfaces alongside engineers. You will own the end-to-end process from discovery and prototyping to high-fidelity design. You will create intuitive, powerful geospatial interfaces that translate complex data into actionable insights, gather user feedback through interviews, and define interaction patterns and design systems for Planet's platform. You will partner with product and engineering to ensure top-tier design quality and help build Planet's design culture. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in the Berlin or Haarlem office. **Requirements:** - 6+ years designing complex digital products, with a track record of shipping technical, SaaS, or B2B software end to end - Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent field - Portfolio demonstrating geospatial or data analytics work: interactive maps, layered geospatial data, time series visualization (time sliders, change over time, comparisons), and statistics/charts that turn data into insights - Solid core craft in UX/UI, interaction design, prototyping, accessibility, and visual design; proficiency with Figma and enterprise design systems - AI-native way of working: ability to prototype in code with AI coding assistants, comfort with Git and merge requests - Ability to conduct user interviews and usability testing independently, synthesizing findings into clear product direction - Comfort with ambiguity; ability to take vague, complex problems and drive them to validated solutions with minimal oversight - Dynamic, iterative, low-ego collaboration style with PMs, engineers, and other designers **Preferred qualifications:** - Experience designing for developers, data scientists, or AI agents - Hands-on familiarity with remote sensing analysis and geospatial standards - Willingness to meet customers and travel within Europe - Experience helping teams adopt new ways of working
