Kimchi.dev is a B2B, product-led platform for teams building software with AI agents. The platform includes a CLI coding agent, desktop app, and IDE extensions (VS Code, JetBrains) that let engineers route work across 50+ open-source and frontier models at 2.5× cheaper cost than commercial-only alternatives. For enterprises, Kimchi adds advanced observability, budget attribution per user/team/API key, hard spend caps, and self-hosted VPC deployment. Inference runs on Cast AI's OMNI infrastructure—automatically scaling, cost-optimized GPU infrastructure. The company achieved unicorn status in January 2026 with a $1B+ valuation and operates across 34 countries.
You will join a small senior design team as a Senior Product Designer, owning problems end-to-end across the Kimchi surface (CLI, desktop app, inference/spend console, developer tooling) from research through shipped design and measured outcome. Your users are engineers and platform teams making real infrastructure and budget decisions in a fast-moving category.
Key responsibilities include: leading user research initiatives independently (planning, running, synthesizing, and turning findings into product direction); prototyping in code using AI-assisted workflows to test ideas directly in the product; bringing a point of view to product strategy conversations backed by direct product usage and research evidence; participating in cross-squad design reviews; and tracking design debt in your area.
You will need to hold your own point of view, be comfortable with ambiguity, shape the product, and get your hands dirty in the actual codebase and dogfood the product. This is a location-specific opportunity for candidates residing in Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Ukraine.
**Requirements:**
- Portfolio or case study demonstrating senior-level design work on developer tools, AI/LLM products, coding agents, or technical, data-heavy SaaS platforms
- Track record of owning research end-to-end (not just contributing to studies run by someone else) and using it to influence product direction
- Comfort working directly with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) and genuine interest in staying hands-on with the codebase rather than only handing off specs
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a strong point of view under ambiguity—making and defending calls without needing a fixed process
- Experience designing for technical, engineering-savvy users and ability to hold your own in conversations with engineers about APIs, architecture, and system constraints
- Strong async communication: writing short, clear documents and making a case in writing as convincingly as in a meeting
**Nice to have:**
- Experience designing CLI or terminal-based interfaces
- Familiarity with desktop app design
- Experience presenting design and research findings directly to executive stakeholders
