Scribd, Inc. is hiring a Senior Product Designer to lead growth strategy and design across Everand and Fable, two premium reading platforms reaching 1.4+ million monthly readers. You'll own the complete growth journey—from onboarding and pricing to referrals and lifecycle engagement—designing experiences that convert curious readers into engaged community members and free users into long-term subscribers.
In this role, you'll design across app, web, and email, working closely with Product, Research, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to identify opportunities, run experiments, and ship work that moves conversion, activation, retention, and revenue metrics. You'll have real ownership and a strong voice in defining vision and strategy for growth and lifecycle. The work spans two distinct brands (Everand's library and Fable's community), requiring you to bring visual craft, interaction design excellence, and the ability to ship with velocity without sacrificing detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing the growth journey across onboarding, plans and pricing, referrals, and lifecycle moments
- Finding natural ways to connect Fable's community with Everand's library
- Bringing your own ideas for experiments and partnering with PMs to scope and set success metrics
- Taking work from rough concept to production-ready with strong visual voice and attention to detail
- Prototyping early (in code when appropriate) and using AI to explore more directions before narrowing
- Validating designs through usability testing before shipping
- Analyzing results, identifying gaps in the journey, and bringing POV on next steps
- Grounding decisions in research, competitive insight, and customer behavior
- Sharing work early and often to help sharpen the broader design team
You'll report to the Director of Product Design and work alongside 6 other Premium product and brand designers within a 25-person design org spanning Product Design, Research, and Brand Design across Everand, Fable, Scribd, and Slideshare.
Scribd, Inc. operates on a Scribd Flex model supporting flexible work arrangements with occasional in-person attendance required for all employees. The company emphasizes a culture of real ownership, high craft standards, clear career paths, and collaborative debate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of product design experience with real time spent on growth, monetization, or subscription products
- Strong visual craft and solid interaction design skills with ability to move quickly to great work
- Shipped experiments that moved conversion, activation, retention, and/or revenue metrics; understanding of why they worked
- Think in journeys, not screens; ability to help define the path forward when unclear
- Daily use of AI to explore, prototype, and understand; ability to build reusable workflows and hold AI output to high standards
- Passion for reading with opinions about how and why people discover, share, and stick with books
- Ground decisions in data, research, and customer insight; ability to make cases with both evidence and taste
- Bonus skills: motion design, consumer subscription apps, mobile, community and social products
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Resume
- Portfolio with 3+ case studies showing growth impact, strong visual craft, and point of view grounded in the why
- Include at least one test that didn't win and what was learned from it
- Password if applicable
