Molecule and BIO.xyz are building the foundation of Decentralized Science (DeSci), where biotech meets web3 to make scientific research community-owned, transparent, and faster to market. Molecule provides infrastructure to turn intellectual property into programmable, on-chain assets through an IP-NFT framework and protocol stack, enabling researchers, patients, and communities to fund and govern biotech projects in new ways.
You will be a Senior Product Designer shaping the user experience and visual language of Molecule's web and mobile products. You'll turn product goals and complex requirements into clear, intuitive interfaces and own the design system that keeps everything consistent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and refine user experience and interfaces for Molecule's core applications across web and mobile, from concept to launch
- Own and expand Molecule's Design System by building and maintaining a scalable, accessible component library
- Deliver polished, pixel-perfect UI components that improve usability and clarity while staying aligned with brand
- Write clear component documentation, UI specs, and usage guidelines for smooth design-to-development handoff
- Partner with Frontend Engineers through implementation to ensure shipped work matches design
- Apply WCAG standards and UX best practices to make products inclusive and accessible
- Build interactive prototypes, often using AI-powered tools, to explore ideas and test them quickly with users
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data, and evolving product needs
- Lead and facilitate design work, including setting up frameworks, running brainstorms, and presenting design decisions to stakeholders
- Contribute to Molecule's broader visual identity across product and communications, working with external design partners on brand assets
The role sits within the Product team and works closely with Engineering and Marketing. The company values iteration over perfection, quick prototypes over long specs, and designers comfortable using AI tools to explore ideas early.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional product or UI design experience, ideally on complex products
- Proven track record building and scaling design systems and hybrid component libraries across teams, with portfolio showing component libraries and detailed UI documentation
- Expert-level Figma proficiency with hands-on experience managing a design system
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and front-end frameworks sufficient to design for feasibility and communicate with engineers
- Strong grasp of interaction design for both mobile and desktop
- Active use of AI tools and AI-enhanced workflows in design process
- Collaborative, ego-free approach; ability to seek out feedback and critique
- Self-sufficient ownership of design process end-to-end, managing feedback and driving execution without micromanagement
- Clear communication skills to explain design reasoning to designers, engineers, and leadership
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience shipping AI or agent-based product experiences
- Ability to build and test working prototypes, selecting the right tool for the question
- Experience with design tokens and front-end design implementation
- Knowledge of user testing methodologies and iterative research practices
- Experience working with external design or branding agencies
- Background in web3, biotech, or decentralized science
