Abby Care is building an AI-native platform for family-led care, addressing America's growing care crisis by empowering the 50+ million family caregivers who support loved ones. The platform combines clinical oversight with AI-powered tools to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality home care, while helping health plans and government partners understand and improve care delivery.
You will join the in-house design team as a Senior Product Designer, reporting to the Head of Product. This is a strategic role that goes beyond execution—you will shape product strategy, define design architecture, and elevate the entire design culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end design of complex product initiatives, from problem framing and discovery through user journey mapping, prototyping, and production delivery
- Drive strategic impact by collaborating with product managers, engineers, and leadership to shape the roadmap, translate business goals into design solutions, and define success metrics
- Champion the user by independently planning and conducting user research with family caregivers, synthesizing qualitative feedback and behavioral data to inform design decisions
- Build and scale design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency, accessibility, and development speed across platforms
- Prepare clear design specifications, account for edge cases, and work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation
- Provide thoughtful design critique, mentor junior and mid-level designers, and optimize team workflows and standards
- Design adaptive, AI-driven digital experiences that simplify administrative and emotional burdens on caregivers
Success Metrics:
- Build a durable design system and clear information architecture that enables rapid, correct product development
- Deliver highly intuitive, cross-platform solutions supporting distinct mental models of family caregivers, clinicians, and operators
- Launch human-in-the-loop, AI-assisted features that safely augment users while navigating healthcare regulations
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive product design experience with a proven track record of shipping impactful digital products (healthcare, health-tech, or complex multi-sided platforms experience is a strong plus)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX and visual UI craft, complex problem-solving, and clear end-to-end design process narrative
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly contributing to scalable enterprise-grade design systems
- Deep experience utilizing user research, usability testing, product analytics, and experimentation to guide iterative design and justify trade-offs
- Strong understanding of technical constraints, system architecture, and front-end feasibility to collaborate effectively with engineering
- Exceptional storytelling and facilitation skills; ability to articulate design rationale to non-design stakeholders, run cross-functional workshops, and push back effectively
- Deep empathy for users and genuine passion for empowering family caregivers
