Insempra is a biotechnology company focused on replacing chemical production processes with naturally high-quality, sustainable alternatives. The company is building a new production platform and seeks a Senior Process Engineer to take a central technical role in this expansion.
In this position, you will design and maintain P&IDs for process and downstream equipment, specify and procure process equipment while managing vendor quotations and technical evaluations, and plan/oversee equipment installation, commissioning and qualification. You will serve as the primary technical contact for external partners including equipment vendors and engineering firms, translating process development results into scalable, robust and safe production processes.
You will collaborate closely with strain engineering, downstream processing, manufacturing and QA/regulatory teams, support HSE and ATEX-relevant risk assessments for process and equipment design, and contribute to technical documentation, SOPs and process descriptions for internal and external use. Additional responsibilities include supporting process development for new and existing microbial production processes with working knowledge of fermentation, and contributing to process control strategy for batch and fed-batch processes.
The role offers direct influence on process and equipment design decisions, close collaboration with an experienced interdisciplinary team of around 12 people, and room to grow toward team leadership as the group scales. You will work in a dynamic, science-driven startup environment within the Munich biotech ecosystem with flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes.
Benefits include 30 days annual leave, flexible working hours, fresh fruit and vegetables, free drinks, and regular team events.
