Pigment is an AI-powered business planning and performance management SaaS platform used by industry leaders like Unilever, Snowflake, and Siemens. The company has raised nearly $400M and was named a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Financial Planning Software. With 600+ employees across six global offices, Pigment is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally.
As a Senior Platform Engineer (SRE), you will design and implement Pigment's infrastructure for the future. The platform presents significant technical challenges: it calculates and synchronizes large datasets (up to billions of rows) that must be updated in real-time, with data pivoted, transformed, and aggregated on-demand through a formula engine while rendering live on the front end.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define, build, and automate infrastructure to address performance challenges and ensure scalability, with dynamic scaling based on platform usage
- Secure high availability and redundancy across the Pigment platform
- Implement monitoring and observability best practices; spread these practices across the engineering team
- Participate in incident response
- Support Pigment's geographical expansion as the company grows internationally
- Collaborate with the security team on infrastructure and development pipeline implementations (code repository, credentials management)
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in development practices and pipelines; drive automation and continuous improvement across the software engineering team
- Contribute to software development activities alongside SRE responsibilities, working closely with software engineers rather than in isolation
You will be part of an SRE team and collaborate with a broader engineering organization responsible for the entire SaaS platform lifecycle. The engineering culture values user-centricity, pragmatism, curiosity, humility, trust, ownership, and team spirit.
Technical stack: Kubernetes (GKE on Google Cloud Platform), Terraform (infrastructure as code), PostgreSQL (CloudSQL and CloudNativePG), SingleStore, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Temporal.io, ArgoCD, Istio, Vault, Github, Docker. Backend: C# ASP.NET Core 8 and Golang microservices (Linux-only). Frontend: React, TypeScript, Jest, Cypress, Vite.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience as a software engineer and in DevOps/SRE roles
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes preferred)
- Experience with public cloud providers (GCP preferred)
- Proven software development experience with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, Jaeger)
- Strong team spirit and problem-solving attitude
- Humility and willingness to grow regardless of seniority level
- Fluency in English
