You will join a team of approximately 7 engineers with diverse backgrounds spanning production operations, pure development, security, and product management, with experience ranging from 1 to 30+ years. The team emphasizes knowledge-sharing and collaborative growth. Key responsibilities include: - Building and maintaining the operating system and Kubernetes control plane, workers, add-ons, and solutions underpinning ARTESCA across deployment options - Hardening security and compliance through CIS benchmarks, SBOM, vulnerability management tooling (Dependency-Track/Anchore), and secret management to support ARTESCA's cyber resilience and Cyber Guarantee - Contributing to installer and product workflows including multi-node/HA deployment, state management, pre-checks, and cloud/vendor integrations (AWS, VMWare) for guided deployment and validated backup vendor integrations (Veeam, Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik) - Owning upgrades and lifecycle management of operating systems, Kubernetes versions, Helm charts, operators, and base images to ensure security, simplicity, high availability, and fast restores - Ensuring ARTESCA remains intuitive, low-touch, and recovery-ready at scale through documentation, testing (integration, upgrade, stability), and operational excellence - Improving CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, devcontainers, diff-based/cost-aware CI, and automated testing for reliable releases - Participating in the MetalK8s open-source project (https://github.com/scality/metalk8s) The technical stack includes Kubernetes, custom K8S (Scality MetalK8s), Containerd, Helm, KubeVirt, Multus, Calico, Cert-Manager, Gateway API, Golang/Python/Bash, Rocky Linux/RPM packaging, Salt orchestration, Prometheus/Grafana/Thanos/Loki/Fluent-bit observability, VMWare vSphere/Proxmox/Hyper-V virtualization, PostgreSQL, Git/GitHub/GitHub Actions CI, and AWS/Scaleway/OVH cloud providers. The role involves active use of AI tools (Claude Code and similar) as part of the engineering workflow. You will use AI to explore codebases, generate implementations, and debug systems while validating and refining AI-generated code in production-grade environments. Strong ownership of correctness and system behavior is expected, with understanding of when AI accelerates work versus when deeper reasoning is required. Within the team, there are multiple growth paths including individual contributor, feature lead, technical lead, architect, product owner, and team leader roles.
