The Partnerships team functions as a startup within Thumbtack, incubating new products and business models to drive innovation. The team is cross-functional, spanning engineering, product, design, analytics, growth, and marketing, enabling rapid experimentation and execution. The group focuses on testing ideas that attract high-intent homeowners with jobs to be done, while encouraging top-tier service professionals to build their businesses on the platform. Initiatives include expanding Thumbtack's presence on complementary sites and platforms, integrating into existing workflows, and leveraging third-party offerings to enhance engagement. The team also maintains and grows existing revenue-generating lines of business.
As a Senior Native Engineer on the Partnerships team, you will bring the partnership vision to life by enhancing the native applications used by customers and service professionals daily. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to execute a broad range of projects—from shaping GenAI integration strategy to landing integrations with major partners to delivering high-quality, partner-specific experiences. You'll have opportunities to build entirely new experiences, applying Thumbtack's capabilities to new verticals and industries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ship user-facing features end-to-end on mobile, from design handoff through release
- Build net-new experiences and enhance existing workflows in both customer and service professional-facing Thumbtack applications
- Work across both iOS and Android as needed, leveraging agentic tools and frontier models to accelerate delivery and impact on non-primary platforms
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to scope, build, and iterate on features
Requirements:
- Fluency with either Android or iOS development
- Deep hands-on expertise with the modern language and UI stack on at least one platform (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose on Android, or Swift + SwiftUI on iOS), with judgment to choose the right approach for a given feature
- 6+ years of industry software experience, with significant time building consumer-facing mobile features
