Wolt is a delivery platform operating in over 500 cities across 30 countries, owned by DoorDash since 2022. The New Verticals division focuses on expanding beyond restaurant delivery into groceries, pharmacy, electronics, and other retail categories—a complex product challenge requiring sophisticated mobile experiences.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer, iOS, you'll join the New Verticals EMEA team, which operates across Wolt and Deliveroo in 30+ countries as five specialized teams. Your primary home team focuses on order quality and cost efficiency: ensuring customers receive correct orders at reasonable delivery costs, handling substitutions, unavailable items, and order accuracy. However, iOS expertise is in high demand across all five teams, so you'll contribute where mobile work is needed.
You will build, improve, and maintain native iOS features for customer-facing journeys in shared consumer apps. You'll partner closely with product, design, and engineering colleagues to translate customer and business needs into simple, reliable, and scalable mobile experiences. You'll contribute to the design, implementation, launch, and ongoing ownership of meaningful product initiatives. The team uses a server-driven UI (SDUI) approach to build configurable, component-based views that enable rapid iteration while maintaining coherent customer experience.
Key responsibilities include making thoughtful technical decisions around architecture, testing, performance, observability, release processes, and maintainability. You'll collaborate with engineers across teams that own different parts of the same app, ensuring integrations and shared patterns work well together. You'll support and mentor full-stack engineers developing mobile expertise and help raise the bar for mobile implementation practices. You'll also use AI-enabled tools pragmatically to improve engineering productivity while applying strong judgment around quality, security, and validation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong experience building and shipping high-quality native iOS applications with solid understanding of modern iOS development practices
- Experience working on large-scale, consumer-facing mobile applications, ideally in environments where multiple teams contribute to the same app
- Good knowledge of mobile architecture, testing, performance optimization, observability, modularity, CI/CD, and App Store release processes
- Experience collaborating closely with product and design partners to solve customer problems, not just implement specifications
- Pragmatic, product-minded approach: able to balance quality, speed, and long-term maintainability
- Comfort working in evolving environments, breaking down ambiguous problems and contributing to clear, practical solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or enabling other engineers, particularly those growing mobile development skills
- Practical experience using AI as part of engineering toolkit with good instincts for validation and quality
- Experience with Android development and/or backend engineering is a strong plus
