Armada is a hyperscaler for edge AI infrastructure, backed by nearly $500M in funding from Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock, and Microsoft (M12), with strategic partnerships including Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio. The company delivers modular AI infrastructure for sovereign and edge computing across 60+ countries, serving energy, defense, and other sectors. You will lead the design and development of liquid cooling and mechanical distribution systems for Armada's modular AI data center platforms. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, hydraulic engineering, thermal infrastructure, manufacturing, controls, and commissioning—not a traditional consulting or drawing-review position, but rather one where you establish design rules, technical standards, interfaces, and commissioning philosophy. Key responsibilities include: **Mechanical and Liquid Cooling Architecture:** Own end-to-end mechanical cooling and fluid-distribution architecture for modular data center platforms. Define primary, secondary, and rack-level cooling boundaries. Establish pumping, flow-control, pressure-management, balancing, and redundancy strategies. Align heat-rejection equipment, distribution piping, CDUs, rack manifolds, rear-door heat exchangers, and other cooling interfaces. Develop scalable architectures supporting multiple product configurations and deployment sizes. **Hydraulic System Design:** Perform and review pipe-sizing, flow, pressure-drop, pump-head, and system-volume calculations. Develop hydraulic models for water and glycol-based systems. Account for fluid concentration, viscosity, temperature, fittings, valves, strainers, heat exchangers, and equipment pressure losses. Define control-valve, balancing-valve, bypass, minimum-flow, and differential-pressure strategies. Validate system performance across normal, part-load, maintenance, startup, and failure conditions. **Mechanical Design and Documentation:** Own P&IDs, mechanical schematics, equipment schedules, valve schedules, instrumentation schedules, and design calculations. Develop mechanical design criteria, basis-of-design requirements, and standard details. Define clear equipment and scope boundaries between plant systems, modules, CDUs, rack cooling, and field interconnections. Maintain disciplined revision control and technical traceability. Review vendor drawings, submittals, calculations, and equipment selections for compliance with system intent. **Modular Product Integration:** Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams to integrate cooling systems into modular product architectures. Support factory assembly, testing, and commissioning workflows. Develop field deployment guides and troubleshooting documentation. **Requirements:** - 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, HVAC, data center cooling, or industrial thermal systems - Demonstrated expertise in liquid cooling system design, hydraulic modeling, and thermal infrastructure - Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and hydraulic simulation tools - Strong understanding of piping design, pressure-drop calculations, pump selection, and heat-exchanger sizing - Experience with modular or prefabricated system design and manufacturing scalability - Knowledge of controls integration, instrumentation, and commissioning procedures - Excellent technical communication and documentation skills - Professional Engineer license or equivalent technical depth
