Xcimer Energy is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own process execution, quality, and continuous improvement for capacitor production. This is a hands-on technical role focused on manufacturing excellence in a precision electronics environment. Key Responsibilities: Process Ownership & Documentation: Own the complete process execution for released manufacturing processes on the capacitor line. Author and maintain work plans, work cards, setup sheets, and stage inspections in Boltline (the MES system). Convert tribal knowledge into documented, repeatable, verified standard work, making implicit operator judgment explicit and teachable. Maintain process documentation as a living system—reviewed on cadence, corrected when wrong, and trusted by users rather than treated as compliance artifacts. Yield, Quality & Corrective Action: Own production yield and first-pass yield on mature processes. Monitor scrap, rework, and defect rates, driving them down through verified process changes rather than added inspection. Lead structured root cause corrective action (RCCA) on process-driven escapes and failures through to verified, sustained closure. Investigate electrical acceptance test failures (HiPot) and distinguish isolated defects from systemic process drift. Partner with Quality on nonconforming material disposition and NCR technical content. Apply statistical process control and data analysis to reduce variation. Contribute to and maintain PFMEAs, closing generated actions. Audit floor execution against documented standard work, treating every gap as either a documentation or training defect and fixing it. Continuous Improvement & Production Rate: Drive day-to-day process improvements that raise yield, shorten cycle time, reduce cost, and steady output. Attack the actual constraints on weekly output—vacuum drying, impregnation (multi-day fixed cycles across limited tanks), and electrical acceptance testing often gate release independently of build rate; sequencing, batching, and capacity decisions around these operations deserve engineering attention. Lead Lean initiatives focused on flow, waste reduction, and setup time. Sustain 5S standards as a condition of process control. Process Capability & Measurement: Define and maintain process capability baselines. Establish the measurements needed to know whether a process is in control before it produces scrap. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience - 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in high-volume precision electronics or similar regulated manufacturing - Demonstrated expertise in process documentation, statistical process control, and yield improvement - Experience scaling a line from pilot build to rate production - Lean or Six Sigma certification (preferred) - PFMEA and control plan development experience - Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems - Experience establishing operator qualification programs from scratch (a plus) - Familiarity with modern cloud MES platforms such as Boltline (preferred) - Experience mentoring engineers or technicians, or building a small engineering team (valued) - Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision-making skills - Ability to work collaboratively across production, quality, and engineering teams
