ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Workflow Automation, Intelligence & Mining team. This team builds the workflow and automation engines that power work across the ServiceNow Platform, processing billions of workflow transactions monthly for enterprise customers. The role is expanding to support AI-native, agentic workflows. In this hands-on leadership position, you will lead a team of Staff, Senior, and Junior-level individual contributors, owning hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development. You are responsible for delivery outcomes across your platform area, from major architecture initiatives and releases to production escalations. You will serve as the senior escalation owner for critical production issues, running path-to-green plans and coordinating resolution across engineering, product, and support teams. Key responsibilities include setting and upholding engineering standards for your team, championing shared architecture patterns and tooling as force multipliers, and reporting delivery status and platform health to executive stakeholders. You will partner with product and engineering leadership to close feedback loops from the platform into roadmap and technical strategy. This role requires the ability to go deep with engineers on hard production issues while maintaining visibility into team trajectory and organizational impact. The team works on high-stakes problems within the organization, building core infrastructure that supports enterprise-scale automation and AI-driven workflows. You will work closely with Principal engineers to shape the platform's future direction. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years in software engineering or technical leadership, with 3+ years managing engineers (ideally including senior, staff, or principal-level ICs) - Proven track record leading complex platform initiatives and high-stakes releases to production, including turning around at-risk or high-visibility work - Strong technical depth in architecture, system design, and production troubleshooting - Experience building or integrating AI and GenAI capabilities into production systems, including agents, LLM-based workflows, or agentic automation - Demonstrated judgment balancing engineering standards against delivery pressure - Experience building engineering team operating machinery: performance rubrics, staffing models, hiring bars, and reusable patterns - Strong cross-functional stakeholder management and ability to report delivery status and technical risk to executive leadership - Demonstrated ability to lead through coaching and influence rather than authority - Experience with large-scale distributed systems, workflow/automation platforms, or enterprise cloud infrastructure (strong plus) - Experience partnering with product leaders
