Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company has moved from consumer development to scaling production of its flagship model, with expansion into commercial applications (tugs, ferries, defense) backed by signed contracts and a robust pipeline.
As Senior Manager of Hardware Engineering, you will lead all physical engineering for Arc's consumer vessels, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and test engineering teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own the R&D function across multiple disciplines and drive execution at pace.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining a strong R&D function across mechanical, electrical, and test engineering
- Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and test teams to ensure designs are performant, simplified, and meet program objectives
- Streamlining processes to create an R&D powerhouse capable of rapid product iteration
- Working cross-functionally with sales, service, production, product, and industrial design to advance consumer engineering offerings
- Setting long-term vision for Arc's small vessel design engineering team and guiding impactful decisions for sub-1MW powertrain platforms
- Leading core low-voltage and high-voltage powertrain platform and compute development for consumer vessels, with crossover into commercial applications and full-vessel vertical integration
- Motivating the team to execute under tight timelines while preventing burnout
You'll thrive here if you move fast, take ownership, care about details, and share Arc's values of ownership, empathy, humility, pragmatism, and inclusion.
This is a full-time, on-site role at Arc's Los Angeles headquarters.

Bonus Qualifications:
- Proven track record of engineering success under tight timelines
