Salary: USD 185,000 - 234,000 / annual
Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company on a mission to power the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures breakthrough battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles.
You will lead a high-performing team of Battery Engineers responsible for helping battery cell manufacturers and consumer/automotive OEMs successfully integrate and qualify Sila's silicon anode materials. This is a people-management role where you will build psychological safety, mentor engineers, and champion their career growth while driving complex customer integrations from sample testing to commercial deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build, recruit, and mentor a world-class team of Battery Engineers, providing regular feedback and advocating for resources and career development
- Lead and support your team in partnering with cell manufacturers and OEMs to guide technical adoption, troubleshoot integration challenges, and accelerate commercial deployment
- Act as a senior technical advocate when needed, stepping in on critical customer engagements
- Bridge technical and commercial strategy by aligning technical roadmaps, customer requirements, and market intelligence across internal and external partners
- Establish clear prioritization frameworks and streamline decision-making to protect team bandwidth for high-impact technical work
- Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
Requirements:
- 3+ years in a direct management or team lead role with proven track record of growing engineers and establishing clear team vision
- B.S. or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, or related physical sciences
- 6+ years of industry experience (or advanced degree equivalent) supporting customer technical adoption, qualification, or integration of advanced materials or complex technologies
- Understanding of lithium-ion batteries, cell components, and materials strongly preferred, or demonstrated ability to rapidly master complex electrochemical systems
- Exceptional ability to communicate technical trade-offs to executive stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and external customers
