Neo Security is hiring a Senior Low Level Engineer to build the core agent that powers their endpoint security product. This is a systems programming role focused on the privileged, cross-platform sensor that runs deep in the operating system on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
You will own the low-level OS infrastructure layer that serves as the foundation for all of Neo's product capabilities. This includes installation and deployment mechanisms, endpoint security frameworks, network visibility, driver-adjacent work, and the full lifecycle of a production system agent (shipping, installation, updates, unattended operation across customer fleets).
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining low-level OS-level infrastructure written in Rust that handles raw platform capabilities and turns them into reliable building blocks
- Developing the sensor's core capabilities: collection, posture and visibility, and local enforcement of security policies
- Reliability engineering for mission-critical software: crash handling, recovery, tamper resistance, and health monitoring
- Working across the full stack: OS internals, AI tooling internals, CI/CD, and reverse engineering as needed
- Shipping production-grade software that operates reliably across thousands of diverse customer environments
The role emphasizes deep technical ownership, end-to-end responsibility, strong communication, and the ability to explain complex systems work clearly. You'll work closely with agentic coding tools and are expected to have deep fluency with at least one such tool.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of systems programming in Rust, C, or C++, working close to the operating system
- Hands-on experience with internals of at least one of Windows, macOS, or Linux (services/daemons, process and file APIs, security frameworks, low-level development)
- Experience shipping and operating production-grade software for large customer bases; understanding of enterprise-grade reliability across diverse environments, non-breaking upgrades, and telemetry-driven debugging
- Strong ownership and independence; ability to drive work end-to-end and maintain customer perspective even in deep technical work
- Team player with strong communication skills; ability to explain technical work clearly, surface problems, and resolve disagreements constructively
NICE TO HAVE:
- Security background (endpoint protection, EDR/MDM, or defensive security products)
- Networking experience (protocols, secure transport, traffic inspection, interception, or network visibility tooling)
- Deeper AI knowledge beyond tool use (understanding models and agents, building agentic workflows, evaluating output)
- Applied cryptography experience (encryption, signing, trust chains in real systems)
- Backend or full-stack development knowledge
