Scalable Capital, a leading European fintech platform with full banking license, is seeking a Senior Kotlin/Java Software Engineer to build and evolve business-critical payment services. You will develop services across the complete payment lifecycle—initiation, validation, execution, status handling, returns, exception management, and reconciliation—using Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot. Your work will enable customers to move money reliably through SEPA while supporting the wider banking platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement clear domain models, APIs, and event-driven workflows that connect customer-facing products with internal systems and external banking partners
- Write clean, secure, well-tested, and maintainable code with particular attention to correctness, resilience, and traceability in financial transactions
- Develop and operate cloud-native applications on AWS, including containerized services on ECS and event-driven workloads on Lambda
- Shape reliable delivery and operations through infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and monitoring
- Work in autonomous, cross-functional teams using agile practices, Domain-Driven Design, code reviews, automated testing, and continuous delivery
- Take ownership from idea to production, delivering measurable value while improving quality, automation, reliability, and developer experience

Founded in 2014, Scalable Capital offers a comprehensive digital investment and banking platform including Scalable Broker (stocks, ETFs, crypto, derivatives), Scalable Wealth (digital wealth management), and additional services like loans and private equity.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience building backend services with Kotlin or Java and Spring Boot
- Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design and ability to translate complex business processes into clear software models
- Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems and APIs
- Familiarity with cloud-native development on AWS, especially containerized and serverless workloads
- Confidence with automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and production observability
- Quality and security mindset with attention to reliability, maintainability, and operational ownership
- Clear communication skills and collaborative, pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Interest in complex financial workflows or curiosity to learn them quickly; exposure to SEPA payments or payment processing is a plus
- University degree in relevant field (computer science, engineering, sciences, etc.) or comparable qualification
