Scribd is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join the Growth Retention & Monetization team. You will be the iOS technical owner for subscription, paywall, and retention features across the Everand and Scribd apps, which serve 2 million subscribers. Everand provides access to over 7 million titles (ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts, magazines) in a Netflix-like experience, while Scribd offers access to over 100 million user-uploaded documents.
In this role, you will own the technical direction for iOS across both apps, breaking down large projects into clear steps and unblocking teammates. You will build in-app purchase flows using StoreKit, ship A/B experiments, and collaborate with backend, web, and Android engineers on shared subscription systems. You will also improve app stability, pay down technical debt, and mentor engineers on your team.
You will work in a mature codebase that includes both Swift and Objective-C, designing and consuming APIs (REST and GraphQL), and balancing technical rigor with business impact. Your work ties directly to revenue and retention metrics.
Scribd operates under a "Scribd Flex" model that balances individual flexibility with meaningful in-person collaboration. Occasional in-person attendance is required for all employees.

- Experience building in-app purchase or subscription features with StoreKit and knowledge of App Store rules
- Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL a plus)
- Track record of addressing technical debt and migrating code to newer technologies without slowing delivery
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical initiatives in a collaborative environment
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Primary: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit
- Secondary: Objective-C
- Payments: StoreKit and StoreKit 2, App Store subscriptions
- Testing: XCTest, XCUITest or similar

NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with subscription systems, payments, or retention features (paywalls, trials, cancellation flows, win-back)
- Experience with experimentation platforms (Statsig or similar) and product analytics
- Familiarity with web technologies (JavaScript, JSON, REST) or backend frameworks (Ruby on Rails)
- Exposure to Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks
- Interest in cross-platform collaboration with Android and web teams
