Asana is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a founding SRE team in Warsaw. This role focuses on building software-driven infrastructure systems that power Asana's platform, serving millions of teams globally.
You will design and build frameworks, tools, and services that improve reliability, observability, and scalability across Asana's infrastructure. Key responsibilities include leading end-to-end projects from design through rollout across multiple systems and teams; improving operability of stateful infrastructure including MySQL, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB; debugging production issues across the stack with an on-call rotation focused on fixing root causes; partnering with product teams to shape service-oriented architecture; and mentoring through code reviews and design discussions.
The tech stack includes AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), MySQL (RDS), OpenSearch, DynamoDB, Redis, Terraform, Datadog, TypeScript, Scala, Go, and Python. You'll work with experienced engineers across San Francisco, Reykjavik, and Warsaw.
This is a hybrid role based in the Warsaw office with office-centric scheduling: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday are standard in-office days. Wednesday work-from-home is standard for most employees; Friday flexibility depends on work type. Asana offers a Contract of Employment (UoP) for Polish employees, with 50% tax-deductible costs for author's rights usage for engineers.
Compensation includes base salary, RSUs, health insurance with dental and travel coverage (Lux Med), lunch catering on office days, career growth budget, home office setup budget, gym reimbursement, fertility healthcare support, mental health support, group life insurance, and MacBooks with accessories.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong software engineering background with production code and systems design experience (Go, Python, Scala, TypeScript)
- 5+ years building and operating backend systems at scale
- Familiarity with distributed systems and storage technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Search) in cloud environments
- Experience with AWS services (RDS, EKS, IAM), Terraform, and monitoring tools like Datadog
- Solid understanding of SRE principles (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response) with a software-first approach to reliability
- Clear communication and strong collaboration skills across technical stakeholders
- Must be comfortable writing real systems code, not just scripting
- Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies with willingness to learn and leverage them
