Salary: USD 200,000 - 300,000 / annual
Verkada is a rapidly scaling physical AI platform protecting organizations through integrated solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. With 30,000+ customers (100+ Fortune 500), $5.8B valuation, and $1B+ annualized bookings, the company is at the forefront of physical AI transformation.
As a Senior IAM Engineer on the Security team, you will own identity and access management across Verkada's infrastructure, transforming access management from manual processes into self-service, automated systems. Your work will establish the standard for how access is defined, granted, reviewed, and revoked throughout the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing identity and access infrastructure as code using Terraform with peer-reviewed change control, drift detection, and policy-as-code
- Advancing zero trust controls for engineering access through short-lived credentials, just-in-time elevation, and elimination of standing privilege
- Owning the complete access lifecycle for human and non-human identities: joiner/mover/leaver flows, service accounts, and agents
- Operating access review and certification workflows that produce audit evidence
- Building tools to identify over-permissioned identities, unused credentials, and policy drift, then driving remediation
- Creating agentic workflows on low-code orchestration platforms to automate access requests, approvals, risk scoring, and access review campaigns
- Partnering with security, infrastructure, and product engineering teams to ensure secure practices are easy to implement
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years hands-on experience with identity and access management in cloud-native engineering environments
- Deep AWS IAM expertise: policy evaluation logic, permission boundaries, assume-role patterns, SCPs, and Terraform expression
- Fluency with identity protocols and access models (SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SCIM; RBAC, ABAC, policy-based access)
- Working knowledge of Okta administration and APIs: SSO, provisioning, group rules, authentication policies
- Ability to build automation using scripting or low-code/no-code orchestration platforms, including LLM or agent-driven steps
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain access decisions to engineers, auditors, and executives
