Endurance Energy is building modular subsea geothermal power plants that convert thermal resources beneath the ocean into baseload power. The company is backed by top-tier VCs (Founders Fund, Felicis, First Round Capital, Point72 Ventures) and has a founding team with experience from SpaceX, Helion, Blue Origin, and Apple. They have completed multiple deep-ocean deployments and are launching a long-term demonstration project.
As Senior Harness Engineer, you will own the complete design and implementation of subsea hardware's power, data, and signal interconnections. This is a design-ownership role where you translate schematics and interface documents into production-ready harness designs, including connector and cable selection, shielding and grounding strategy, routing and strain relief, overmold and penetrator approach, termination specifications, drawings, and BOMs. You will decide what is built in-house versus outsourced, and you will qualify and manage external harness shops, connector vendors, and molders.
Key responsibilities include: owning harness design from interface definition through released drawings for subsea deployment and test systems; participating in technical trades that balance stakeholder objectives and drive system architecture; producing harness drawings, physical CAD layouts, BOMs, and termination specifications; defining manufacturing plans including in-house vs. partner work and required tooling; identifying and qualifying external manufacturers and suppliers; defining and reviewing acceptance test requirements (continuity, hipot, insulation resistance, pressure); partnering with production on DFM and assembly tooling; troubleshooting harness and interconnect faults on test and deployed hardware; shaping harness standards as the company scales; and investigating new technologies for unique requirements.
Harness failures are among the most common causes of lost subsea hardware, so your judgment and execution will have substantial impact on deployment success.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of engineering experience designing and delivering wiring harnesses or electrical interconnect for complex hardware systems
- Strong understanding of connectors, cable construction, shielding, grounding, and signal integrity, and knowledge of how harnesses fail in the field
- Experience producing harness drawings, BOMs, termination specifications, and 3D layouts in CAD (e.g., Siemens NX)
- Working knowledge of harness test methods including hipot, insulation resistance, and continuity testing
- Hands-on experience building and terminating prototypes
- Ability to perform basic PCBA or component-level electrical measurements and debugging
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with technicians, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers
- Comfortable in fast-paced, prototype-driven environment where designs evolve rapidly
- Ability to work onsite in Seattle and travel to deployment sites as required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience designing harnesses for marine, subsea, aerospace, or defense systems
- Experience with wet-mate and dry-mate subsea connectors, penetrators, overmolding, and PBOF systems
- Experience pressure-testing or qualifying subsea assemblies
- Experience debugging electrical systems and circuit boards
- Experience qualifying and managing harness manufacturers or connector suppliers
- Certification in or knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and related assembly and inspection standards
