Mondoo is building a platform that helps companies protect their users and data from security threats. The company is seeking a Senior Go Engineer to have direct impact on the Mondoo Platform, including the policy engine, resources, scale, and multi-region functionality.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems using microservices architecture, as well as create robust command-line interface (CLI) applications. You'll work on software that helps teams assess, scope, prioritize, triage, and remediate security findings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement efficient, scalable backend services using Go
- Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures
- Create and enhance CLI applications for terminal use
- Design and implement APIs using Protocol Buffers and GraphQL for inter-service communication
- Participate actively in designing features in a performant, scalable way, consulting with colleagues and making informed decisions
- Follow feature rollout procedures to ensure safe deployment
- Create Grafana dashboards and alerts to monitor features you've rolled out
- Optimize existing codebases for improved performance and reliability
- Implement systems for load balancing, fault tolerance, and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with frontend applications and CLI tools
- Develop robust error handling, logging, and monitoring solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and coding standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
- Represent Mondoo at community events as preferred
The team merges approximately 200 PRs per week with ~15 releases per week. As a small team, this averages to 7-20+ PRs per person per week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development using Go
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience developing command-line interface (CLI) applications
- Proficiency in Protocol Buffers and GraphQL API design and implementation
- Experience with SQL
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of version control systems (preferably Git)
- Strong written and communication skills with proven fluency in English
- Excellent ability to articulate complex technical concepts and participate effectively in feature design processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with event-driven architectures
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with gRPC
- Contributions to open-source Go projects
- Experience with cross-platform development for CLI applications
- Previous experience participating in or leading RFC processes
