voize is building AI companions that automate digital workflows for frontline workers in healthcare and related sectors, enabling them to focus on people rather than busywork. Backed by $50M Series A funding (Balderton Capital, HV Capital, Y Combinator), the company serves 2,000+ facilities with 200,000+ active users.
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you will be a co-owner of voize's ML App—an in-house platform for annotation, data exploration, ML training orchestration, model evaluation, and HIPAA-compliant data flows. Your mission is to build in-house tooling so robust that vendor alternatives (Labelbox, Encord) become unnecessary, while unblocking HIPAA-compliant training on US customer data.
Your daily work includes:
- Co-owning the ML App codebase (React/TypeScript SPA + Kotlin services + Kotlin ETL on EKS)
- Designing and shipping features for data labeling, data exploration, ML training orchestration, model evaluation, model playgrounds, and ML-issue triage
- Driving the next iteration of annotation tooling—UX, throughput, task-type extensibility—to vendor-competitive quality
- Maintaining CI/CD, EKS deployments, and LGTM-stack observability; triaging and fixing defects
- Partnering with the Platform team on prerequisites (FGA proxy, OIDC) for new training flows
You will work in a fast-growing startup environment with regular team events, flexible hybrid arrangements (Berlin office with remote options), stock options, and flexible working hours. No two days are alike; you'll tackle complex challenges, grow quickly, and make direct impact on frontline worker productivity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years building production fullstack web applications with React and TypeScript
- Excellent Kotlin or JVM backend experience (services, ETL/data pipelines, schema design)
- Demonstrated ownership of a complex, production-critical system
- Comfortable engineering with regulated/sensitive data (HIPAA, GDPR, BAA, PHI, or similar)
- Strong product and UX instincts, particularly around annotation, labeling, data exploration, and ops UI
