Amplify Education is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build software that directly impacts real classrooms with real students and teachers across all 50 states and six continents. The company serves over 18 million students and educators through its Classroom platform, which combines curriculum, assessment, and supplemental learning into a coherent instructional system.
In this role, you will write, test, and ship production code across the full stack, primarily using React and TypeScript on the frontend with Node.js and AWS on the backend. You'll own what you ship in production, including monitoring, debugging, and incident response. A key part of the role is improving the codebase through code review, refactoring, and deletion of unnecessary code. You'll help engineers around you improve through code review, pairing, and mentorship, raising both the codebase and team capability.
You'll collaborate across disciplines with product managers, designers, and education experts to translate complex requirements into software that works for real users in classroom environments. You're expected to use AI thoughtfully and pragmatically as a productivity tool while maintaining your own judgment and expertise. The role requires someone who is pragmatic about how software gets built, cares deeply about the people who use it, and understands that reliability and scale matter in an environment with inconsistent connectivity and time-constrained users.
Note: Amplify is considering candidates for both Senior and Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer levels; your level will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and interview performance.

- 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern backend web technologies, including Node.js, and ability to reason about scalable, maintainable service design
- Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly, verbally and in writing
- Genuine passion for education products and commitment to building equitable, accessible tools for learners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with modern data stores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Mongo, Snowflake)
- Hands-on experience managing cloud-based infrastructure (Serverless, Datadog, Terraform, Docker)
