Salary: USD 120,000 - 150,000 / annual
Techstars is building an operating system that centralizes how accelerator programs are run, founder support is delivered, network engagement happens, and investment decisions are made. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will own features end to end—from backend data architecture and API layers through React UI, from design through production deployment. You will work on AI-native product capabilities including semantic and federated search across the Techstars network, retrieval systems over founder and portfolio data, and assistive workflows that surface relevant context to the right stakeholders at the right time.
You will also lead the migration and clean shutdown of legacy founder tools, including Techstars Universe and the application management system, consolidating critical functionality into the new OS or retiring it safely without breaking downstream dependencies.
This is a small, high-trust team that moves fast and ships real products. Everyone is expected to hold a thread all the way through from conception to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own features on Techstars OS end to end: design, build, test, and ship from data ingestion and API layers through the web application
- Build AI-native features: semantic and federated search across the network, retrieval over portfolio and founder data, and assistive workflows that surface context at the right moment
- Lead migration and shutdown of legacy founder tools, consolidating functionality into OS or retiring it cleanly
- Work across the Enterprise Data Platform and OS to build pipelines that feed real-time features, search, and AI use cases
- Raise the floor on reliability and velocity through tests, code review, and CI/CD practices that scale as the team grows, including integration of AI coding tools
- Act as a technical resource for the team: unblock others, weigh in on architecture decisions, and maintain context across time zones
Requirements:
- Strong TypeScript and Python with judgment about when to use each
- Solid React experience; ability to build clean, functional UIs independently
- Proficiency with relational databases: data modeling, migrations, and query performance under real load (PostgreSQL experience preferred)
- Experience building data pipelines end to end: ingestion, transformation, and delivery to downstream consumers (event streaming experience valued)
- Production experience shipping LLM-backed features: retrieval, embeddings, evaluation loops; understanding that the hard part is managing uncertainty, evidence, and recovery
- Comfortable operating containerized services in major cloud environments with infrastructure as code (GCP and AWS experience preferred)
- Track record of owning features from zero to production and retiring legacy systems without breaking downstream dependencies
- Strong written communication and high tolerance for autonomy; remote-first environment requires clear writing and self-directed alignment
Nice to have:
- Event-driven architectures and Kafka-based data platforms
- Evaluation and observability for LLM features
- MCP or other tool surfaces for safe agent actions on production systems
- Identity and auth systems (Keycloak or similar)
- Search infrastructure (OpenSearch or similar)
- Next.js and Material UI
- Financial or investment data experience (venture capital, startup portfolio management)
- Prior work at an accelerator, investment firm, or high-growth startup
