Lendable is a UK fintech unicorn (700+ employees) on a mission to rebuild consumer finance products with modern technology. The company is profitable since 2017, backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs, and operates across loans, credit cards, and car finance in the UK and US markets. You'll join the Central Operations team, which sits across core products (Cards, Loans, Motor) and builds internally-facing web applications and automations to help Operations teams deliver outcomes at scale. Central Ops focuses on shared operational challenges—from customer support to fraud and fincrime prevention—and uses AI and machine learning pragmatically to help ops teams keep pace with rapid customer growth without relying solely on headcount expansion. In this role, you'll have real ownership from an engineering perspective, shipping features used daily by Ops teams. Recent examples of work include: rebuilding the Ops QA admin system from scratch to replace off-the-shelf tooling; deploying an LLM-powered pipeline to summarize customer calls into concise notes automatically surfaced in admin panels; and more than doubling complaints processed through targeted AI automation and improved UX. You'll work in small teams of exceptional people, make decisions that drive material impact from day one, and help shape both the tools and technical direction of a rapidly evolving space. The role involves collaboration with Product, Data Science, and Analytics teams to deploy solutions that genuinely support ops agents. The interview process includes a 30-minute introductory call, take-home task, technical interview, and cultural/behavioral interview. Benefits include flexible working (hybrid roles require three days in-office weekly), private health cover, retirement savings plans, employee referral bonuses, complimentary lunches on in-office days, and sustainable commuting schemes. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer - Solid experience with Python in a web application context; experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask (company uses FastAPI) - Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern JS framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js (company uses React & NextJS); ability to build frontends suitable for internal tooling - Strong engineering principles & practices: design patterns, testing, clean code, and code review skills - Previous experience working in a product-focused team - Keen desire to learn and contribute in a highly collaborative team - Daily use of AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar PLUS (not essential): - Exposure to Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems, and Event Sourcing - Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS - SQL and ability to navigate data schemas - Experience shipping containerized software with Argo, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
