Salary: USD 160,000 - 280,000 / annual
Verkada is a rapidly scaling physical AI platform company with 30,000+ customers (including 100+ Fortune 500 companies), a $5.8B valuation, and $1B+ in annualized bookings. The company provides integrated solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management across 170+ countries.
You will join a small, dynamic team operating as a startup within the larger organization, focused on building cloud-managed access control systems. This is Verkada's second major product line, and the team has significant ownership and autonomy. The Access Control solution enables users to manage doors, schedules, and user credentials from laptops or phones.
In this role, you will work alongside firmware, backend, and frontend engineers to develop and scale the access control product. You'll be responsible for delivering best-in-class products and experiences—not just features. You'll take product ideas that are less-than-fully-fleshed-out and drive them to completion, with an eye for design, product details, and polish.
Key responsibilities include building custom components and custom UI with strong cross-browser support, implementing architectural solutions for the access control platform, and collaborating with backend and firmware teams to integrate frontend systems with cloud infrastructure. You'll be expected to think deeply about user experience, performance, and maintainability.
Verkada values self-motivated problem solvers who tackle large, complex problems with no clear answers. The culture emphasizes learning new technologies while owning major systems, and growing alongside a fast-moving organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of industry software engineering experience
- Mastery of JavaScript (scoping, closures, contexts, prototypes, classes, etc.)
- Expert-level proficiency with React
- Strong architectural understanding of custom components, custom UI, and cross-browser support
- Eye for design, product details, and polish
- Understanding of HTTP and practical debugging techniques
- Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system
- Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week
