SumUp's Financial General Ledger (FGL) team is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to own complex reconciliations within one of the company's revenue streams (lending, e-money, or merchant banking). This is a technical anchor role within the FGL team, which sits at the strategic core of SumUp's financial operations, ensuring accurate capture and analysis of revenue and costs across lending, payments, and merchant banking products. You will take ownership of complex reconciliations, investigating mismatches and data gaps between backoffice systems, ledgers, and cash flows to resolve them at root cause rather than case-by-case. You'll review postings and reconciliations completed by junior colleagues for accuracy, completeness, and audit-ready documentation. The role involves posting complex accrual, impairment, and revenue recognition entries, supporting month-end close within tight deadlines, and working directly with Product, Controlling, and other teams to understand how systems and data connect and identify improvement opportunities. You'll help build structured tracking and documentation for open reconciling items and controls, supporting SumUp's move toward a stronger control environment. The FGL team combines deep accounting knowledge with SQL queries, AI-assisted reconciliation tools, and advanced data analytics to understand not just what was recorded, but why and how the business operates financially. This is analytical accounting at its core—you'll analyze product mechanics, trace complex payment flows, and use technology to automate routine work, freeing you to focus on analytical challenges that matter. The role is based in SumUp's modern Sofia office on an office-first basis. SumUp is a fintech platform serving over 4 million businesses across 38 markets, providing tools for payments, finance, and customer relationships. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong accounting background gained in an international company or audit firm, comfortable with financial reporting, GL entries, and revenue recognition - Experience investigating and resolving reconciliation mismatches across high-volume, complex data sets - Comfort reviewing colleagues' work and giving clear, constructive feedback, without needing to be in a formal leadership role - Genuine curiosity about how systems and processes connect, with confidence to ask questions and dig into unfamiliar territory - Willingness to reach out proactively to teams like Product and Controlling to get to the bottom of an issue
