Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Enterprise Solution Architect to define, design, and drive the overarching technology architecture across the company's digital ecosystem. This is a strategic and hands-on role that bridges high-level business goals with technical execution, ensuring seamless integration of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), cloud infrastructure, and data platforms into a unified digital thread.
You will be responsible for:
• Architecture Vision & Strategy: Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment between IT/OT infrastructure, software platforms, and long-term business goals while maintaining digital thread traceability from early engineering design through production execution.
• Solution Design & Governance: Lead end-to-end architectural design for core enterprise applications (ERP, PLM, MES, CRM, Data Warehouse). Establish technical standards, Master Data Management protocols, system-of-record boundaries, and governance for item masters, Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and EBOM to MBOM transformations.
• Cross-System Integration: Architect secure, scalable integrations connecting shop-floor Operational Technology (OT) to cloud platforms and core enterprise applications.
• Technical Leadership & Advisory: Partner with engineering, manufacturing, finance, supply chain, and IT teams to translate business requirements into robust system blueprints, technology selections, and multi-year transformation roadmaps.
• Vendor & Platform Evaluation: Conduct technical trade studies, proofs-of-concept (POCs), build-versus-configure assessments, and vendor evaluations to ensure modern, fit-for-purpose solutions with optimized Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• Security & Compliance Alignment: Work with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to ensure all solutions comply with enterprise security standards, data privacy requirements, and regulatory policies (ISO, AS9100 configuration management, export controls).
• Technical Debt & Modernization: Identify architectural bottlenecks, legacy technical debt, and redundancy across the tech stack. Build clear modernization roadmaps supporting cloud/hybrid deployments, edge computing, and smart-factory initiatives.
The role requires occasional travel (up to 25%), willingness to work nights/weekends/on-call, and the ability to work in a facility with industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-Have:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 8 to 10+ years of total experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or lead systems architecture, with focus on advanced engineering, hardware, aerospace, automotive, clean energy, or industrial manufacturing sectors
• Direct experience leading or delivering at least 2 to 3 full lifecycle implementations or modernizations connecting PLM, ERP, and MES/MOM platforms
• Strategic thinker capable of shifting from high-level enterprise roadmaps to detailed technical, API, and schema design conversations
• Effective communicator able to build consensus and explain technical trade-offs among cross-functional stakeholders, executive leadership, and shop-floor engineers
• Pragmatic architect who balances best-practice frameworks against speed, flexibility, and delivery constraints in high-growth environments
• Skilled at untangling legacy tech debt, resolving data silos, and defining rationalized target-state environments
Bonus Points:
• Deep hands-on design experience with PLM platforms (Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Aras Innovator, PTC Arena)
• ERP expertise (SAP S/4HANA, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP/NetSuite, Epicor Kinetic)
• MES experience (Siemens Opcenter, Manufacturo, SAP Digital Manufacturing, AVEVA MES)
• SCADA/Automation knowledge (Ignition, AVEVA System Platform, Siemens SIMATIC WinCC, GE Proficy, Rockwell FactoryTalk View)
• Modern integration architecture (REST/GraphQL APIs, Kafka, RabbitMQ, MuleSoft, Workato, Boomi, ISA-95 standards, PLM XML, edge computing, IIoT)
• Cloud & Infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, cloud-native design patterns, hybrid deployments, identity/security protocols)
