PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Release Engineering to lead the delivery infrastructure that supports the company's AI-first digital operations platform. In this role, you will manage a team of experienced platform engineers and set the delivery direction for all of PagerDuty Engineering, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure.
You will own the multi-year roadmap for how PagerDuty builds, tests, and deploys software. Key responsibilities include leading a GitOps transformation to ensure every environment is defined in Git with consistent promotion and rollback processes; bringing CI-quality checks into the developer and AI agent loop to catch problems early; providing engineers and AI agents with short-lived, isolated environments for safe testing; reworking code review processes to focus human effort on high-risk changes while automating routine checks; selecting and driving adoption of the next CI/CD platform across Engineering; owning delivery metrics including Change Failure Rate with monthly reporting to leadership; managing CI and AI tooling costs as usage scales; hiring, coaching, and growing senior engineers; and sharing learnings through talks, blog posts, and the wider engineering community.
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 2 times per week. PagerDuty operates offices in 8 major cities and is trusted by approximately two-thirds of the Fortune 100 and nearly half of the Fortune 500, including customers like Chipotle, Cloudflare, Docusign, Fox, Nvidia, Salesforce, Spotify, and Zoom.
Requirements:
- 10+ years in platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps, with at least 5 years managing engineers
- Proven experience leading a GitOps or deployment platform migration across many teams and clusters
- Track record of taking a CI/CD platform from selection to full adoption across an engineering organization
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD systems, and infrastructure as code
- Hands-on use of AI coding agents, with experience changing a pipeline or process based on their impact on delivery speed and stability
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to executives in plain language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience running Argo CD, Buildkite, or CircleCI at scale
- Experience with progressive delivery (canary releases, feature-flag rollouts)
- Experience with vendor and budget management
