As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a full-stack engineering team responsible for building customer-facing products that help school leaders, teachers, and families save time, make better decisions, and run stronger programs. You'll own the complete lifecycle from problem definition through production, measurement, and iteration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a full-stack engineering team and translating company goals into clear outcomes, investment choices, and execution plans
- Setting engineering strategy for quality, reliability, security, privacy, and operational health
- Shipping AI-powered products and evolving how the team works with AI
- Hiring, developing, and managing strong engineers with clear performance standards
- Making capacity, dependencies, forecasts, and risks visible early
- Partnering with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams to turn customer problems into shipped products with measurable adoption and impact
- Owning product and platform health across web, mobile, and backend systems
- Using customer behavior, operational signals, and production data to inform prioritization decisions
The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails and Sidekiq for backend; React with TypeScript for frontend; native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose) for mobile; PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes on Amazon EKS for infrastructure; and AWS Bedrock and hosted models for AI and automation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience leading an engineering team that delivered measurable customer or business results
- Technical depth to challenge architecture, product, data, reliability, and operational decisions without taking work away from the team
- Proven track record setting engineering strategy and making explicit investment and prioritization choices
- Experience shipping an AI-powered product or workflow to production with measurable results
- Track record hiring and developing strong engineers, building succession plans, and handling performance issues directly
- Ability to build trusted partnerships across Product, Design, and business teams while representing a clear Engineering point of view
Desirable experience includes: vertical SaaS, education, fintech, healthcare, CRM, or ecommerce domains; leading material changes in product direction, architecture, or operating model; building production AI products, agents, evaluation systems, or automation; building customer-facing products with measurable adoption or outcome impact; and using customer feedback and production data to improve product outcomes.
