NerdWallet is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Partner Data Ingestion team, which builds and operates systems that convert partner-reported activity into recognized revenue. The team owns ingestion pipelines, pricing configuration, and data-quality controls across banking, credit cards, insurance, lending, investing, and emerging verticals. Data flows into Snowflake and serves Finance, Business Development, and the broader business for performance analysis and financial close.
The role involves leading the team through a multi-vertical platform migration from legacy batch-job schedules to event-based and hourly processing, while maintaining revenue flow and partner reconciliation. You will own the technical path off legacy systems onto a unified platform, partner with Business Development, Finance, Product, and vertical engineering teams to sequence migrations and resolve discrepancies, and build a team capable of explaining revenue numbers, not just shipping pipelines.
Key responsibilities include hiring and developing engineers at multiple levels (full-time staff and contractors), ensuring revenue accuracy across partner files, pricing rules, and warehouse figures, driving the remaining migration of verticals and partners onto the modern platform with new API connectors, managing sprint planning and delivery commitments, and guiding thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development for migrations and operations (with human review on revenue-impacting changes). You will hold the team to software fundamentals including code review, testing, documentation, and operability of daily-running jobs, identify delivery risk early (late partner files, pricing changes, cross-team dependencies), and maintain ingestion reliability in freshness, completeness, and clear ownership of discrepancies.
This role reports to the VP of Engineering and is fully remote, based in the U.S.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience
- 5+ years as a people manager of an engineering team
- Proven success owning production data pipelines or ingestion platforms where correctness is critical (revenue, billing, payments), ideally in FinTech or regulated industries
- Experience leading legacy-to-new platform migrations while both systems remain in production
- Strong SQL and Python; working knowledge of Snowflake and AWS
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions, or similar), relational databases (e.g., Postgres), and idempotent, observable, rerunnable pipelines
- Working knowledge of data-quality practices: reconciliation, anomaly review, and discrepancy investigation
- Experience partnering with finance, business development, or other non-engineering stakeholders on revenue-critical data
- Demonstrated ability to coach engineers at different levels (senior and staff engineers) with clear, actionable feedback
- Track record balancing delivery dates with technical quality on systems that cannot silently drop or double-count data
- Proven use of automation, including AI-assisted development, to increase team throughput
- Strong written communication for explaining discrepancies and decisions to non-engineering audiences
