Alan Clinic is building the future of healthcare by integrating insurance, prevention, and care into a single user experience. The company has reached €800M+ in ARR, serves 1M+ members across 40K+ partner companies, and operates across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada.
Alan Clinic consists of two crews: Mo, an intelligent LLM-based conversational AI health assistant launched to all French members in Q1 2026 (the first safe AI health companion at scale in Europe), and the Clinic Platform, which provides medical services including chat with practitioners, teleconsultation, and care programs across primary care, mental health, and physiotherapy.
As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering team building a medical experience that works reliably, safely, and at scale. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing the engineering team: hiring, onboarding, feedback, and ensuring talent density. You own the team's skill mix as Mo evolves.
- Guiding architectural decisions for Mo's expansion: more context, new skills, new countries. You stay close enough to the code to make informed architectural calls on the agentic framework.
- Driving the platform that converts conversations into care: chat with health practitioners, national-scale teleconsultation, and tooling for doctors and therapists. You align the crews with medical teams to ensure members move from conversation to action.
- Ensuring operational excellence: Mo and teleconsultation are real-time 24/7 services. You own latency, error rates, incident response, and on-call rotations that don't burn out the team.
The role offers dual impact—shaping technical excellence while growing your team—with startup speed on top of Alan's infrastructure and distribution. You'll work on high-stakes problems where reliability and safety directly affect members' health. The team is at the start of the journey and recently published research on their work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years leading engineering teams with a track record of building high performers
- Experience establishing engineering excellence standards and guiding architectural decisions
- First-hand experience shipping AI or LLM products to production (strongly preferred)
- Hands-on: you still write, review, and ship code yourself
- Comfortable with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools
- Partner with product functions as an equal: shape roadmap, name trade-offs honestly, commit to deliverables
